Autoclaved aerated concrete

Autoclaved aerated Concrete (also known as AAC, and cellular or porous concrete) is light, but is not actually concrete in the strictest sense of the word, as it uses no aggregate larger than sand, which is involved in the chemical reaction caused by hydration. The most important additional raw materials used in AAC are calcium oxide or cement, water and a porosification agent (such as Aluminium powder). Once the mixture has been poured, the porosification agent reacts with lime and water to form hydrogen. The gas bubbles foam the mixture, thus Forming pores.

The mixture stiffens to form a block that is then cut using Steel wires. Next, the AAC is hardened in autoclaves, where it is subjected to saturated steam, heat and pressure. The AAC is then ready for use.
