load cell (Neutro)

Description: A load cell is a Force Sensor used in weighing scales and balances (whether the equipment is subject to national calibration regulations or not). It incorporates a measuring element - the spring element - that undergoes elastic deformation up to its limit load in proportion to the force acting on it and within the rated load range of the load cell. Various different spring elements are used that measure different forces such as Bending, shear, compressive and ring Torsion force. The spring element is fitted with strain gauges, which means that when the shape of the spring element changes, so too does Resistance. The size of this change in resistance is measured and can be processed as an electrical signal. Fast frequencies in weighing procedures require good dynamic properties, which is why the measurement signals of state-of-the-art load cells are often electronically filtered and/or amplified. Load cells are used, for example, in filling and sorting systems and to measure inbound and outbound flow into and out of a system.
