Description: Annealing is a production process that modifies Material properties. In this case, properties are deliberately changed through Heat treatment. Annealing takes place in three phases. During the preheating phase, the workpiece is heated to a holding heat that is maintained for a fixed period during the soaking phase. During soaking, the temperature in the workpiece equalises. During the cooling phase, the workpiece temperature returns to the ambient temperature. The temperature can be identified based on the workpiece's annealing colour. Different properties can be changed in different temperature ranges. These ranges apply to unalloyed/low-alloy Steel and/or Carbon steel.
