O-ring
Description:
O-rings (packings, toric joints) are amongst the most common seals. They are mainly used as static seals and are annular with a round cross-section (an 'O'). One exception is the X-ring (Quad-Ring), which combines four round cross-sections in the shape of a four-leaf clover. O-rings are made from various materials - such as rubber, Polyethylene or metal - to meet different requirements (e.g. acid-resistant, temperature-resistant, vacuum-tight). When fitting the O-ring, pushing it into place creates the initial seal. The ring is pressed into the sealing Joint under operating pressure. This combination results in high sealing pressures, which means O-rings are also suitable for high operating pressures in static applications. O-rings can be used for both radial static sealing (cylinders, pipes) and axial static sealing (flanges, locks and catches). They are also suitable for dynamic applications with low operating pressures and velocities.

Description:
Los anillos O (empacado, juntas tóricas) están entre los sellos más comunes. Se usan principalmente como sellos estáticos y son anulares con sección redonda (una "O"). Una excepción es el anillo X (Anillo-Cuad), el cual combina cuatro secciones redondas en forma de un trébol de cuatro hojas. Los anillos O se hacen de varios materiales, como el hule, polietileno o metal, para cumplir con diferentes requerimientos (por ejemplo, resistencia a ácidos, resistencia a la temperatura, hermético al vacío). Cuando se acomoda el anillo O, se presiona en su lugar para crear el sellado inicial. El anillo se presiona en la unión de sellado bajo presión operativa. Esta combinación resulta en altas presiones de sellado, lo que significa que los anillos O son adecuados para presiones operativas altas en aplicaciones estáticas. Los anillos O pueden usarse tanto para sellados estáticos radiales (cilindros, tuberías) como para sellados estáticos axiales (bridas, bloqueos y cierres). También son adecuados para aplicaciones dinámicas con velocidades y presiones operativas bajas.
