scale (Neutro)

Description: On engineering drawings, the scale is the ratio between the size as shown and the corresponding actual size. The scale drawing can be either larger or smaller than the actual size. A figure or model is always true to scale if all line segments in the scale version are in the same proportion as the corresponding line segments in the original. Only certain scales can be used in engineering drawings. The following are permitted: Full scale with a proportion of 1:1 Reduction factors such as 1:2, 1:5, 1:10 and the relevant multiples Enlargement factors such as 2:1, 5:1, 10:1 and the relevant multiples The Standard Tolerance when depicting items to scale corresponds to the normal drawing accuracy of 0.2 millimetres. The scale used must be marked in the title block of an Engineering drawing.
    Example sentences:
  • A scale fitted on the Reverse Unit can be used to verify that the two screws are tightened evenly.
  • Machine moulding is primarily suited to medium-size and large-scale production.
  • The scale embossed on the side of the Reverse Unit indicates the tensioning axle travel.
