Parts provision

Parts provision at an Assembly Work bench refers to the processes and equipment used to ensure the necessary parts and assemblies are available at the right time and place. They must therefore be planned, implemented and monitored from the storage facilities right through to the place of assembly. Planning is subdivided into requirements planning, procurement planning and stock planning.

Due to efficiency and ergonomic considerations, parts provision must be arranged in such a way that:

  • Frequently needed parts containers are positioned so that employees can reach them with the shortest possible reaching distance (Handling area).
  • Unnecessary Workload factors such as lifting or lowering are avoided.
  • Physical and geometric features can be utilised when transferring items, e.g. by using small-roller conveyors or slide rails.
  • Material containers are configured according to the geometry of parts, weight and refilling cycle.
