luminous intensity (n)

Luminous intensity varies depending on the design of the lighting and the light source, but is not affected by how far away the observer is.

This means that sources in the infra-red range have a luminous intensity of around zero as the human eye cannot see infra-red rays.

A light source is described as isotropic if its luminous intensity is independent of direction, anisotropic if it is dependent on direction.

Lichtstärke (f)

Die Lichtstärke ist wiederum von Leuchtenbauformen und Leuchtmitteln abhängig, nicht aber vom Abstand zum Betrachter.

So haben Strahlungsquellen im infraroten Bereich etwa die Lichtstärke null, weil infrarote Strahlungen für Menschen unsichtbar sind.

Eine Lichtquelle wird isotrop genannt, wenn ihre Lichtstärke richtungsunabhängig ist, anisotrop, wenn sie von der Betrachtungsrichtung abhängt.
