The interlocking connection ensures that cables and hoses stay in place even when the conduits are installed upside down.

Compared to cable or belt drives that rely on friction and always involve some kind of slip, the drive shaft and output shaft (pinion and gear) always move synchronously in an interlocking chain drive.
