grub screw
Description:
A grub screw is the easiest way of creating a Friction-based connection between Shaft and hub. It is passed through the Hub and, after tightening, presses onto the shaft. Friction-based connections using grub screws are inexpensive, easy to produce and support large tolerances, but they are not suitable for low torques in equipment such as controlling devices. The connections are difficult to separate, because the screw leaves a burr on the shaft when tightened. The smaller the gap between shaft and hub, the bigger the burr. Milling a small area on the shaft below the screw can prevent this from happening. Grub screws are also suitable for making press fits more secure.
