Description: Reach trucks come under the category of motorised floor conveyors. Reach trucks are generally similar to straddle trucks, except that their fork or other load-handling attachment is not fixed in place, but can be extended, i.e. moved forward. When in its extended position, the load-handling attachment can be used to pick up or set down goods on the floor, in a Rack or on a lorry. When the load-handling attachment is in its retracted position, the truck is more manoeuvrable and shorter. It is also more stable, because the Centre of gravity is moved closer to the vehicle's footprint. Reach trucks are also available in designs that feature masts with a fixed fork, with the entire lift frame moving between the wheeled support arms, or outriggers. The lift frame can have a limited tilt function. There are also reach forklifts that utilise a scissor mechanism to move the load-handling attachment.
