Overall equipment effectiveness
Description:
Overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) is a customised key performance indicator for the value creation of a production plant. OEE is derived from performance, availability and quality factors. It can be stated as a percentage or a value between 0 and 1. The higher the value, the higher the overall equipment effectiveness The difference between actual and desired performance determines the performance factor for equipment. A low performance factor is obtained if target production quantities are missed or plants are run idle, for example. Reject parts or reworking requirements will reduce the quality factor for equipment. Low availability factors arise when Material and personnel are unavailable or due to unplanned waiting time (Power cuts, sluggish maintenance Work). It is important to define when downtime is to be classed as unplanned.
