Electrical sheet (electrical engineering) (Neutrum)

Description: Electrical sheet is the term used to describe thin sheets of magnetically soft materials with minimal electrical conductivities. These sheets are normally made from an iron-silicon alloy. Electrical sheet is needed to create a magnetic circuit. It is used in electrical equipment, transformers, coils, relays and circuit breakers. Depending on the application, electrical sheet is also referred to as magnetic sheet Steel, electrical sheet steel and Transformer sheet. A magnetic circuit can also be created using solid material, but this results in high losses due to the eddy currents caused by the change in polarity of the alternating voltage. This would lead to undesirable heating of the Iron core. In practice, core stacks made up of laminated, mutually insulated sheets are used for applications requiring a magnetic circuit. This makes it possible to significantly reduce the eddy currents and achieve a higher flux density combined with lower losses.
