Description: Worm gears are a type of Rolling screw Gear system. They are used when two shafts transect at a right angle and when large transmission ratios are required. A worm gear consists of a gearwheel, the worm wheel, and a Shaft, the worm. The latter can have one thread or several threads and can be left or right-handed. Worm gears can be self-locking if the lead angle is small. They are therefore suitable for use as lifting machinery, when the gear train is not to run backwards even when under load.
