actuator
Description:
An actuator is used to convert an electrical signal into mechanical energy or other physical quantities. This makes it the opposite of a Sensor, which converts energy into electrical signals. Actuation is the term used to describe the way the actuator works, i.e. creating a movement or deformation. One example of an actuator is a valve in a Control loop that opens or closes when an electrical signal is applied.
