Virtuelle Verrückung
Virtual displacement
Description:
The principle of virtual displacement is based on the physical principle that an Equilibrium exists between external and internal forces (deformation energies) in elastic systems. The virtual Work $\delta W$ thus equals the virtual deformation energy$\delta \Pi $. This principle is used, for example, when calculating supporting forces in an overdetermined system. The purpose of introducing a virtual displacement at a point P is to calculate a real Force acting on this point. The virtual displacement is assumed to have a value of 1 without any unit. The virtual displacement d is in opposition to the force F to be determined. The same principle applies when determining a real moment M. In this case, a virtual Torsion $\varphi $ with the value 1 is introduced in opposition to the moment.
