English

brake (動詞)

Description: A brake is used to reduce or limit the speed of vehicles or moving machine parts. Brakes usually convert mechanical Kinetic energy into heat energy. This reduces the kinetic energy of the movement. Brakes are closely related to clutches, except that, unlike Standard clutches, one side is fixed in place. Brakes are mainly used to reduce rotating motion, but linear movements can also be slowed through a slight Design modification. Brakes that are fitted to hoists must apply their full braking action immediately on actuation. Commonly used brake types: Disc brake Drum brake Band brake Brakes can be differentiated according to how they transmit power: Pneumatic brakes Hydraulic brakes Cable brakes Electromagnetic brakes They can also be differentiated according to their intended use: Stopping brakes (bring moving masses to a standstill) Locking brakes (one-way clutches) Holding brakes (against unintended start of a Shaft) Control brakes (for constant speed) Dynamometric brakes (converter)
    Example sentences:
  • Brakes usually convert mechanical kinetic energy into heat energy.
  • Brakes that are fitted to hoists must apply their full braking action immediately on actuation.
  • Roller Conveyor St D30 Brake brings the flow of materials to a halt at the desired point.
