One-Piece-Flow-Konzept

One-piece-flow concept

The one-piece-flow (or single-piece-flow) principle was originally developed as part of the Toyota Production System. It is also referred to as 'continuous-flow manufacturing' and is usually used in Lean production environments.

One-piece-flow environments are logistical Assembly line production systems in which personnel accompany the workpiece through the various processing stages, sometimes as far as its completion. Personnel are therefore organised into groups or deployed on Rotation and must be in control of all worksteps.

This system is able to respond flexibly to customer requirements because it supports Mixed-model production involving a range of product designs. It is possible to switch between the designs almost arbitrarily, according to batch size and customer requirements.

The One-piece-flow system minimises the problems that personnel can have with concentration when undertaking monotonous tasks and boosts motivation by making Work more varied.
